Kay Warkenthien

Kay F.(O'Connor) Warkenthien, 67, Garrison, ND, formerly of Bismarck and Fargo, ND and Clark, SD, died peacefully on Monday, April 9, 2007 in a Bismarck hospital after a lengthy illness, with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:30 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Garrison, ND. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6 to 9 at Thompson Funeral Home in Garrison and for 1 hour prior to services at the church. A service will also be held at the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark on Monday, April 16, 2007 at 2PM. The Rev. Gary Westgard will officiate. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. The organist will be Dorothy Fuller with the congregation singing "Amazing Grace", "Beautiful Savior" and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus". Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3-5 PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and 1 hour preceding services at the Church on Monday. Kay Frances O'Connor was born April 15, 1939 in Clark, SD to George and Kathryn (Devine) O'Connor. She graduated from Clark High School in 1957. She was united in marriage to Al Warkenthien on October 4th, 1957 in Alexandria, MN where they made their home and had five children. While living in Minnesota, Kay worked at Carlos Sate Bank in Carlos, MN. In 1972, they moved to Fargo, ND where Kay was employed by the Neuro Psychiatric Institute. In 1977 the family moved to Bismarck, where Kay spent 14 years at Central Dakota Radiologists, a job that she would retire from in 1995. It happened to be the same day as her best friend and husband Al. Kay enjoyed crocheting, watching her favorite programs, and also her beloved Sammy, the pet dog she and Al adopted as their own from the neighborhood. Her family was her proudest accomplishment in life, watching them mature and grow, which gave Kay much happiness. Kay is survived by her husband of 49 1/2 years Al Warkenthien, Garrison, ND; daughter, Laureen (Sandy) Andrews, Pleasant Hills, CA; 2 sons, Brad, and Dean (Darcy) Warkenthien, Fargo, ND; 5 grandchildren, Angel (Elsa) Andrews, Murdock, Fl, Dylan Warkenthien, Anchorage, AK, Derek Warkenthien, Valdez, AK, Devin and Dustin Warkenthien, Fargo, ND; and one great grand daughter, Aida, Murdock, Fl and a brother, Ronald O'Connor and wife Ann of Clark.
