June Herke

June Herke, 91, passed away on July 31, 2025, of Alzheimer's Dementia.  In following with Mrs. Herke's wishes, no funeral services will be held at this time.

June Herke was born on June 19, 1934, to Dominic and Ida (St Onge) Gadbois at Jefferson, South Dakota.  On December 24, 1954, June was united in marriage to August Herke.  June and Augie farmed and raised a family of four children on the farm in Howard, SD until Augie's death on April 20, 1999.  Following his passing, June moved to Watertown, SD.

June and Augie were truly great "farm people".  They were the picture of hospitality and caring for their friends, family, and neighbors.  Everyone was always welcome at the farm, and the couple shared many years of laughter with those who knew them.  Visiting the farm, you could be sure that you would never leave thirsty or hungry, and that you would have a good time while spending time with the Herke's.

June is survived by her children: Jeff (Beth), Mark, Kim (Herb) and Rene; grandchildren: Dagan, Faith, and Cedar; great-grandchildren: Amelia, Zain, Ada, Reighly, and Asher, as well as many extended family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Augie, parents Dominic and Ida Gadbois, and her 15 siblings.
