Joseph Grosz, age 63, a resident of Hillcrest Colony near Garden City, SD, died peacfully at his home surrounded by family on Wednesday, October 12, 2005 after a long illness. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 14, 2005 at 2PM at Hillcrest Colony. Burial will follow in the Colony Cemetery. He was born on November 18, 1941 in Hanson County, Rockport Colony, near Mitchell, SD, the son of John and Katherina (Kleinsasser) Grosz. At the young age of 4 he became ill with polio. He spent a long time in a hospital in Colorado before returning home. The family moved to Hillcrest Colony in 1978. He enjoyed having company. Grateful for having shared in his life are his siblings, Benjamin Grosz and wife Deanna of Tucson, AZ, Mary Grosz of Hillcrest Colony, Gabriel Grosz and wife Sharon of Madison, WI, Rebecca Grosz, Susie Waldner, John Grosz and wife Anna, Paul Grosz and wife Joann, Lydia Grosz all of Hillcrest Colony and Josephine Wipf and husband Gordon of Gracevale Colony, near Winifred, SD. He also leaves a special caregiver, LeeAnn Maag of Florence. Preceding him in death were his parents, a brother, John, a sister, Debra, a brother-in-law Jake Waldner and a neice Sandra Waldner. Visitation will be held on Thursday afternoon and evening at his home at Hillcrest Colony with an all-night wake at the house. The Furness Funeral Home of Clark is serving the family.
