Joie Ann Steffen, age 45, of Clark, Mrs. Robert, died peacefully in the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls on Thursday morning, November 29, 2018 after a very sudden illness due to a blood disorder.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 3, 2018 from 5-8 PM at the Clark United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at 2PM in the Clark High School gym with Pastor Mark Tracy officiating.  Visitation at the school will begin at 12:30 until service time.  Lisa Bjerke will be the pianist.  Those that should consider themselves as honorary casketbearers will be the Staff of Sanford Clinic Clark and Steve and Bev Splinter at Lewis Drug Clark. Active Casketbearers will be Steve Splinter, Andy Wookey, Justus Reidburn, and Ray Hirte. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark.

She was born Joie Ann Reidburn on March 23, 1973 at Watertown, the daughter of Lonnie Dale and Debra Rae (Wookey) Reidburn, She attended Clark School and then graduated from Clark High School in 1991. While in high school she was active in band, playing the clarinet and also enjoyed playing the piano. She attended Moorhead State University for a year and the Lake Area Technical Institute for 2 years. After her graduation she went to work at the Brookings Hospital, Brown Clinic, Milbank Hospital ER and then at the Clark Clinic which later became Sanford Clinic Clark. She worked at all of those facilities as a laboratory technician.

On August 17, 1996 she was united in marriage to Robert K. Steffen, classmates since kindergarten. The couple lived in Watertown and then in 2004 moved to Clark. She continued her work in Clark up until a week prior to her untimely death.

She was a member of the Clark United Methodist Church where she was active in the Bell Choir. She was a devoted Christian, reading her Bible nearly daily. In other free moments she enjoyed cross stitch, playing Candy Crush, baking and cooking, and making her infamous "weight cutting" smoothies. She was very devoted to her kids in their sporting events, and supporting the other kids in their events as well. A summer tradition was attending the Prairie Repertoire Theater at SDSU in Brookings. Above all she was a devoted Mom and a true friend to many, especially at her work.

Preceding her in death was her Mother, Debbie Reidburn, December 24, 1999, and grandparents, Harold and Hazel Reidburn and Lyman and Nadine Wookey.

Survivors include her husband Robert, children, Hannah Fay, Hudson Oliver, and Hayse Robert Steffen all of Clark, her father, Lonnie Dale (Teresa) Reidburn of Clark, brothers, Jeff (Lindsay) Reidburn of Henry and Jarvis (Alissa) Reidburn of Bradley, nieces and nephews Brooke, Justus, Emma, Averi, Lydia, Lincoln, Chelsea, Jerad, Logan, and Shelby and a great niece Emma and a great nephew Weston.
