John James Vorseth

Mr. John J. Vorseth, age 72, rural Vienna died at his farm on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 of an apparent heart attack. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 4, 2008 at 10:30 AM in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church at Vienna with the Reverend Kathy Hibbert officiating. The casketbearers will be Basil Englert, Marvin Virchow, Dick Reints, Church Lusk, Gary Owen and Mark Erickson. Music will be provided by Dorothy Fuller as organist with Kyle and Char Peterson singing a duet. Burial with military honors will be held in the Pleasant Lutheran Cemetery near Vienna. Visitation will be held at the Church Friday morning after 9AM. He was born on the farm, west of Vienna, on May 11, 1935, the son of James C. and Clara Louise (Grob) Vorseth. He attended school at Vienna through the eighth grade. In 1958 he joined the United States Army and served his country in the Army and the Army Reserve until March of 1964. John loved the farm, his herd and the land. He will long be remembered for his generosity in his willingness to lend a hand and help other people. He enjoyed trapping and hunting in his younger days and always enjoyed going to coffee with his friends at the Post Office in Vienna. He was baptized and confirmed in the Pleasant Lutheran Church near Vienna. Survivors include cousins, Alice Raastad and husband Arvid of Bryant and Wendell Bossen and wife Jean of Hendersonville, NC and a host of friends.
