Joann Frances Carr Huber was born on March 7, 1939 to parents Leslie and Ida (Heppler) Carr at Redfield, SD. She grew up with her five siblings and attended Redfield schools and graduated from Redfield High School.
On September 28, 1959, she was united in marriage to Michael "Mike" Huber at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Redfield. They lived in the Tulare/Doland areas for many years before moving to Redfield. She worked at the South Dakota Developmental Center serving in many capacities. She began as a seamstress, then a cook, a housekeeper and lastly as a dorm parent.
She was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Doland until it's closing and then attended Mass in Clark and Redfield.
Her passions included sewing, anything from her husband's suits to the girls' prom dresses. Her main passion was praying for her family, both her immediate and extended family. She also loved rummage sales. Joann would rise extra early to get to the rummage sale for the good deals.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Ida, her husband, Mike, a grandson, Gunnar, siblings, Duane Carr and Janet Marsh, and her son-in-law, Dan Barrett.
Grateful to have shared her life are her children, Debey (Doug) Senska of Forestburg, SD, Marcy Barrett of Baxter, MN, Cathy (Eugene) Loken of Cottonwood, MN, and Jesse (Tara) Huber of Crocker, SD, six grandchildren, Dianna Burger, Andrew and Shayna Loken, Dain and Madison Barrett, and Kailee Huber, and several great grandchildren.
