Jerry Bowers, 68, of Clark, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on the afternoon of May 29, 2026. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held on June 8, 2026, from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. at his home, 301 South Kansas Street in Clark.

Jerry graduated from Clark High School in 1975, where the foundation of his values and work ethic were laid. Early in his career, he worked alongside his father, Jack Bowers, in road construction. Following his father’s retirement, Jerry established his own farm in Garden City, where he worked tirelessly up until the final season of his life. His dedication to the land and farming community was a central part of his identity. In the winter months, Jerry continued to serve his community by working for the Department of Transportation plowing snow for a decade. For over thirty years, he also served as an EVOC Driver with Clark County ambulance, providing critical support in emergencies, and was a volunteer firefighter with the Clark Fire Department for thirty-eight years, exemplifying his commitment to the safety and well-being of those around him.

Jerry’s personal life was rich with family and love. In 1978, he married Diane Harding, and together they were blessed with three children: Heather, Justin, and Jeremy. In 2009, Jerry married Susan Lowrie, and through this union, he gained three more sons, Travis, Cory, and Derek. Affectionately known as “Pops,” he cherished his role within this extended family network. Jerry is survived by his loving mother, Joanne Bowers; his wife, Susan Bowers; and his children—Heather, Justin (Tiffany), Jeremy (Andrea), as well as his bonus sons Travis (Kami), Cory (Tiff), and Derek (Ashley). He also cherished his bond with his bonus nephew Scott Johnson (and Heather), whom he considered a son.

Grandfather to a remarkable eleven granddaughters—Nakia Pederson, Krin Pederson, Londyn Pederson, Piper Pederson, Abigail Bowers, Marlee Bowers, Layla Lowrie, Elena Lowrie, Natalie Johnson, Athena Bowers, and Jennifer Bowers—and three grandsons—Javen Aalberg, Aiden Bowers, and Jack Bowers—Jerry’s family was a source of endless joy and pride. Together with Sue, Jerry loved spending time fishing at the Missouri River, hosting memorable family fish fries, and savoring the companionship of his wife, children, and grandchildren. Their shared love for mini road trips to casinos, concerts, and bus excursions to various events created treasured memories. Morning coffee with his mom Joanne was a simple pleasure that brought him great happiness.

Jerry was born in Watertown, South Dakota, and lived a life deeply rooted in this community. He was predeceased by his father, John (Jack) Bowers; his grandparents Leo and Mary Poirer; and Earl Bowers and Hattie Kruthoff, his grandparents on the other side.

A Celebration of Life will be held on June 8, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Bowers Home, located at 301 South Kansas Street, Clark, SD 57225. Friends and family are invited to gather and honor Jerry’s memory, reflecting on a life characterized by steadfast dedication, loving family connections, and an unwavering commitment to serving others.
