Jerone Whirledge

Jerone K. Whirledge, age 81, of Willow Lake, SD, loving mother of three, passed away at Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown, SD on October 28, 2023.

There will be no funeral services as Jerone's wishes are being honored. However; there will be a private graveside service for immediate family members only.

Jerone was born on August 1, 1942, in Huron, SD to George and Carol (Kretzschmar) Korkow. On April 30, 1960, she was united in marriage to Roger Whirledge. The couple made their home in the Willow Lake area farming and later moved onto the family farm in 1986 where they currently resided.

She enjoyed spending time with her family along with her daily 9:00 AM phone calls with her sister Becky. Jerone also loved to be in the kitchen. She enjoyed cooking, baking and cleaning the house.  She also enjoyed taking time off the farm to go gamble, shop, and spend time with her sisters.

She is survived by her husband of over 63 years, Roger of Willow Lake, children, Brenda (Jeff) Verdon and Kristi (Kevin) Guerdet, all of Willow Lake, grandchildren, Dustin (Mackenzie) and Mike (Shelby) Guerdet and Samantha Verdon, great grandchildren, Chyanne, Bodhi, Braelynn, Kameron and Teresa, Aimee, Catherine and Kella, sister Judy Ronning of Watertown and Becky (Bob) Brown of Sioux Falls, in-laws Harold (Evelyn) and Larry (Jo) Whirledge, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jerone was preceded in death by her parents, George and Carol Korkow, a daughter, Teresa, a grandson, Cody, her brother, Gerald, and her mother and father-in-law, Ted and Mabel Whirledge.

In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials in her honor to the Whirledge Recreation Complex in care of Kristi Guerdet at 609 2nd St. Willow Lake, SD 57278.
