Jelaine Rae (Mrs. Melvin) Ommen, age 80, Henry, died peacefully in the Prairie Lakes Hospital in Watertown early Thursday morning, February 6, 2014 with family at her side. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 9, 2014 from 4-6 PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and will continue at the Church in Henry after noon on Monday. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 1:00 PM in the St. Paul's Lutheran Church (WELS) at Henry with The Reverend Keith Petersen officiating. Music will be provided by Myrna Brenden as organist and Jenna Hulscher as soloist. Those that should consider themselves as honorary casketbearers are her granddaughters, the groups of ladies she had coffee with and also the coffee crew at the Henry Elevator. The active casketbearers will be Heath, Travis, and Matt Kittelson, Mike Rawlins, David Leheska and Jerome Nesheim. She was born on February 2, 1934 at Rutland, SD, the daughter of Idor and Myrtle (Holvik) Johnson. Jelaine attended grade school at Rutland and then at the age of 14 her mother died, leaving her at home to help raise 7 brothers. On December 27, 1951 she was united in marriage to Melvin Ommen at Pipestone, MN. To this union two daughters were born, Glenda and Deborah. The couple lived and farmed near Garden City where Jelaine was a stay at home Mom, raising the girls and helping where she could on the farm. In 1965 they bought a farm near Henry where they have lived and farmed since. While living on the farm near Henry and after the girls had left home, Jelaine worked at the Quadee Rubber now known as Minnesota Rubber. She worked there for some 27 years. She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church (WELS) in Henry. Some of her fondest moments were spent sewing and reading but second to none, was her love of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, 5 brothers, 4 sisters, her parents-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law, and 2 sisters-in-law. Grateful for having shared in her life is her husband of over 62 years, Melvin "Mick" Ommen, daughters, Glenda (Ken) Kittelson and Deborah (Bob) Hallauer all of Henry, grandchildren, Heath Kittelson of Clark, Travis (Leah) Kittelson and Matt (Brandi) Kittelson all of Henry, Laura (David) Leheska of Chamberlain, Melissa (Jerome) Nesheim of Clark and Michael (Jessica) Rawlins of Watertown; great-grandchildren, Cody Nelson, Wyatt, Madeline, Colton and Cooper Kittelson, Tyler, Luke, Sienna and Grant Leheska, Kaiden and Trevor Rawlins, and Kamryn and Alex Nesheim. She also leaves siblings, Gayla (Danny) McKibben of White, SD, Larry (Maxine) Johnson of Brookings and David (Ellen) Johnson of Ravensdale, WA and a brother-in-law, Don Ommen of Lewiston, ID.
