Jeanette Lois Bobzien

Jeanette Bobzien, age 94, of Clark, died late Thursday evening, October 31, 2024 at Avantara Clark.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, November 5, 2024, 10:30 AM, at the Peace Lutheran Church of Clark with Reverend Randy Bader officiating.  Visitation will be held one half hour preceding the services.  Burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery of rural Clark with a lunch following in the church basement.

Jeanette Lois Mead was born on December 8, 1929, to parents Harold and Caroline (Wickersheimer) Mead in Parkersburg, IA. She attended school at Parkersburg and Waverly, Iowa. Harold married Thelma (Bates) in 1936 and the family moved to Clark in 1946 where Jeanette graduated in May of 1947.

On May 31, 1947, she married Elmer Bobzien. The couple lived on the Bobzien family farm where they raised their son, Francis. In 1981, the couple moved into Clark, and Francis moved to the farm. Elmer died in August of 1989.

Jeanette was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church where she held all of the various offices of the Ladies Aid and the Clark Legion Auxiliary. She was a hard worker helping on the farm, mowing Rose Hill Cemetery for six years, and did wall papering, painting and housework for several women in the area.  In her spare time, she enjoyed crafts, gardening and canning, and bowled regularly well into her 80's.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Harold Mead and Caroline Duff, her step-mother, Thelma Mead, her husband, Elmer Bobzien, her son, Francis Bobzien, her brother, Donald Mead, her half-sisters, Anita (Everett) Vaughn and Karen Duff, and brothers-in-law, Richard Harrington, and Randy Williams.

Survivors include three half-sisters, Becky Harrington of Bradley, SD, Judy Williams of Avoca, IA, and Anita Vaughn of Eugene, OR, sister-in-law Betty Mead of Milbank, SD, a daughter-in-law, Carla Bobzien of Clark, SD, two step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
