This is being place on the Furness Funeral Home web site as a courtesy to the Janice Macer family, her Father, Alvah, is a dear friend and neighbor to me. Please remember all of them in your thoughts and prayers. Burial will take place on Sunday, May 13th at 1:30 PM with The Reverend Robin Schaunaman officiating in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark under the direction of the Furness Funeral Home in Clark. The public is welcome to attend the burial service. Please note, her date of death was on the 28th of January, not as posted, but due to the web site populating, it must be stated this way, thanks for understanding, Greg Janice Eileen Macer, 63, passed away on Saturday, Jan 28, 2012 at the Dougherty Hospice house in Sioux Falls, following a five-year battle with cancer. Memorial service will begin at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, Jan 31, at George Boom Funeral Home in Sioux Falls. Memorial visitation will begin at 1:00 PM on Tuesday with the family present to greet friends from 5 to 7 PM. Janice was born on December 23, 1948 the daughter of Alvah and Mildred (Brekke) Macer. She grew up on a farm near Clark, SD and graduated from Clark High School in 1967. She went on to Northern State College for two years majoring in business. Throughout her life she held various managerial positions for a period of ten years in Rapid City, Pierre, and Sioux Falls. Her most recent employment was with The Credit Store and First Premier Bank Card in the collections department, Sioux Falls. Animals were a passion of Janice's, whether it was dogs, cats, squirrels, raccoons etc. You could be assured of seeing Facebook pictures or cards that had an animal on it. Bowling was also a joy in her life. For 30 years she attended many State Tournaments and a few National Tournaments winning various awards. She loved spending many nights at the bowling alley with friends. Spending time with family at reunions or going to the Legion were all times that she loved. Short trips on the motorcycle and in the convertible with the top down or watching NASCAR racing were her weekend pleasures. Grateful for having shared her life are her father, Alvah Macer, Clark, SD; siblings, Carol (Keith) Stobbs, Miller, SD, Rodger (Debra) Macer, Rapid City, SD, Kendall (Renee) Macer, Cloverdale, CA, and Jennifer (Jim) Aalbers, Harrisburg, SD; 10 nieces and nephews; 11 great-nieces and great-nephews; and special friend, Gail Elvecrog, Sioux Falls. She is preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Macer; two ex-husbands, Jon Voyles and Rodney Van Beek.
