Jane Gammelin

PLEASE NOTE: Jane Gammelin's actual date of death was December 17, 2013. Due to restrictions of the web site, I had to list the date as of today, April 30, 2014. Memorial services will be held this Saturday, May 3, 2014 at 1:00PM at the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark with The Reverend Gary Anderson officiating. Dorothy Fuller will be the organist with congregational singing. Following a luncheon in the Church basement, burial will be held on The Hague Lutheran Cemetery near Willow Lake. There will be no visitation. Jane F. Holmstrom Gammelin, age 88, Clark, the widow of Adolph, died peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, December 17, 2013 in the Prairie Lakes Hospital at Watertown. She was born Jane Florence Holmstrom in Minnehaha County, SD, the daughter of Carl and Anna (Larson) Holmstrom on September 28, 1925. Jane was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at the Benton Lutheran Church near Crooks, SD. The family made Minnehaha County their home until the early 1950's when she moved with her family to a farm south of Clark. On June 14, 1954 she was united in marriage to Adolph Gammelin in Clark County. They lived on the Gammelin farm in Hague Township all of their married life. Adolph died on November 23, 1982. Jane continued making her home on the farm for a few more years until moving into Clark. She had also assisted Larkin Potato Company for a few years at harvest time. She continued living in Clark until a few years ago when she moved to Revillo, SD. She returned to the Garden Grove Apartments at Clark and lived there until moving in the Golden Living Center at Clark at the end of September. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, three brothers, Edwin, Herman, and Leonard, four sisters, Hanna Nussbaum, Ebba Preussler, Prudence Holmstrom and Pearl Jozaitis. Jane is survived by a sister, Ruth Matthies of Vacaville, CA, and a brother, Algot Holmstrom of Gilbert, AZ and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services and with burial in The Hague Lutheran Cemetery south of Clark will be held at a later date.
