Mr. James E. Jensen, age 91, Conde, formerly of DeSmet, died in the Golden Living Center at Groton where he has resided since June of 2005. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2008 at 2PM in the DeSmet Cemetery. The Reverend Randy Koeller will officiate. There will be no visitation. The Furness Funeral Home of Clark is serving the family. He was born on a farm northeast of Huron, the son of Hans and Christina (Larson) Jensen. He attended school at Huron through the 10th grade. He was united in marriage to Nina Byrd Grothe in 1939 at Howard. She died in 1988. For many years he was a mechanic and a truck driver, living in the communities of Huron, DeSmet and then in Spearfish for 23 years. In 2000 he moved to Conde to be near his Granddaughter Tina Sanderson. In 2005 he moved to the Golden Loving Center at Groton. Some of his favorite pastimes were spent doing embroidery, playing solitare, listening to baseball on the radio and playing checkers with his great-grandchildren. Survivors include his children, James W. (Tootie) Jensen of DeSmet, Barbara M. (Kenneth) Grafing of Lexington, TN and Gene L. (Dianne) Jensen of Spearfish, 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 28 great-great grandchildren. He also leaves a daughter-in-law, Robyn Jensen of Flandreau and brothers John A. Jensen of Huron and Robert L. Jensen of DeSmet and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Nina, a son, Arnold Jensen, 3 grandchildren, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
