Irene B. (Mrs. Arnold) Lohr, age 86, Henry, died in the Golden Living Center at Clark on Thursday afternoon, February 18, 2010. Funeral services will be Monday, February 22, 2010 at 11AM in the Furness Funeral Home Chapel at Clark with Pastors Tom Hemstock and LeRoy Wasland officiating. Dorothy Fuller will be the pianist with Greg Furness as the soloist. The casketbearers will be her grandchildren with the great-grandchildren serving as honorary casketbearers. Burial will be in the spring in Lorinda Cemetery at Henry. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4PM at the Furness Funeral Home in Clark and also 2 hours prior to services Monday morning in the funeral home Chapel. Irene Bernice Lohr was born on August 24, 1923 near Clearfield, MN, the daughter of Carl and Nora Kuno. She attended country school and high school in Laq Qui Parle County. She married Arnold Lohr on March 30, 1950 at Redwood Falls, MN. To this union 3 children were born, Janice, Thomas and Robert. The couple lived in Minnesota when they were first married and during the installation of the rural electric in South Dakota, the lived in Watertown, SD and Faith, SD. In the mid 1950's they moved to Milwaukee, WI where Arnold work for the City of Milwaukee. Irene was a stay-at-home mom, cooking and raising the three children. After his retirement in 1984, they moved to Henry, SD and have lived there since. Irene became a resident of the Golden Living Center at Clark in May of 2006. She was a member of the Penecostal faith. Irene will long be remembered for love of music, especially Gospel music. She would play the mandolin and sing for hours, loving every minute of it. Grateful for having shared in her life is her husband of nearly 60 years, Arnold of Henry, a daughter, Janice Timm and finace Roger Copehart of Doland and sons, Thomas A. and Robert Lohr, both of Henry, 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She also leaves sisters, Mavis Weber of Redwood Falls, MN and Olive Gudmunson of Eagle Bend, MN and a sister-in-law, Lila Page-Kuno of Watertown. Preceding her in death are her parents, a brother, Chuck Kuno and brothers-in-law, Henry Weber and Floyd Gudmunson. Email condolences and sign an on-line registry at www.furnessfuneralhome.com
