Ida O. (Mrs. Cliff) Yexley, age 87 of Bradley, died in the Golden Living Center at Clark where she and her husband have resided since December of 2006. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2008 at 11AM in the St. John's Lutheran Church at Bradley with Minister Marion Grimes officiating. Burial will follow in the Prairie Hill Cemetery at Bradley. Music will be presented by Marvine Obermeier as pianist with the Bradley-Crocker Church Choir singing "Sheltered in the Arms of God" & "What a Day That Will Be". Marvine Obermeier and Wendy Christman will also sing "Beyond the Sunset" and "God Understands". Honorary Casketbearers will be the Staff of the Golden Living Center and the Fay Wookey Memorial Assisted Living Center both in Clark, Nancy Tarbox, a faithful caregiver, former Postmasters and Postal Employees, Helen Peterson, Belva Sunne, Ila Hanson and Helen Yexley. Active Casketbearers will be Dave and Dan Obrzut, Vic, Alan, Doug, Jeff and Baron Yexley. Visitation hours will be Tuesday afternoon at the Furness Funeral Home in Clark from 5PM-7PM and at the Church in Bradley after 9:30AM on Wednesday morning. She was born at Wallace, SD on June 25, 1920, the daughter of Ole and Anna (Klungreseth) Shervheim and resided on the family farm west of Wallace until her marriage. She was united in marriage to Clifford Yexley on June 29, 1941. They made their home near Bradley for the next 64 years until failing health forced them, in 2005, to move to the Fay Wookey Memorial Assisted Living Center and later to the Golden Living Center, both in Clark. Ida was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, graduated from Bradley High School and then graduated from Northern State College in Aberdeen. She taught country schools in Codington and Clark County. She retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2003, at the age of 83, after spending 39 years with the Bradley Post Office, serving as Postmaster since 1973. She was active in the St. John's Lutheran Church at Bradley, serving as Sunday School Superintendent and teacher for 38 years and a WELCA officer for many years. She was a lifetime member of the Bradley American Legion Auxiliary and was a member of the Sons of Norway, even making two trips to visit relatives in Norway. Ida will long be remembered for her kind and generous spirit. She helped many people and causes throughout her life. She especially loved her cats, feeding multitudes over the years. Preceding her in death were her two sisters, Gladys and Agnes, a brother Olaf and a great-grandson, Rayce Olson. Grateful for having shared her life is her husband of over 66 years, Cliff of Clark, a son, Terry (Lyn) Yexley of Bradley, a daughter Connie (Larry) Parliament of Florence; grandchildren, Chris (Michelle) Olson of Las Vegas, NV, Wendy Dunaway of Colgate, WI, Jeff (Keri) Yexley of Bradley, Dawn Yexley of Coon Rapids, MN, Trudi (Kyle) Gaikowski and Heidi (Jeff) Seefeldt all of Clark and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
