Huey Paul Jones

Mr. Huey Paul Jones, age 82 of Omaha, NE. Mr. Jones died at his home in Omaha early Tuesday morning, December 12, 2006. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 18, 2006 at 10:30 AM in the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark with the Reverend Gary Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark with military rites by the Smith-Cagley American Legion Post of Clark. Music will be presented by Dorothy Fuller as organist with congregational singing. Casketbearers will be Henry, Leon, Leslie and Jimmy Herrick and Randy Horter. Visitation will be afer 9AM at the Church on Monday morning. He was born on November 20, 1924 at LaGrange, GA, the son of Ervin and Pearl (Railey) Jones. He was schooled in Georgia. Just prior to his 18th birthday, he enlisted in the US Navy and earned the rank of Aviation Machinists Mate, 2nd Class. He had become a petty officer shortly after turning 18. He served oversees in Bahia, Brazil. In November of 1945 he was honorably discharged. On January 13, 1945 he was united in marriage to Olga Mae Hatle at Minneapolis. A short time later they moved to Georgia where their first son, Larry, was born. They then moved to Watertown, SD where he was employed with Metz Baking Co Old Home Bakery. Their second son, Mark was born in Watertown. He was transferred to Sioux Falls and later to Omaha. Metz Baking employed him for 22 years leaving as supervisor. He then went to work for Rotellas Bakery in Omaha where he was employed as production manager. After his retirement the couple moved to Fort Smith, Ark for 10 years and then for the past 8 years they have lived back in Omaha. While living in Watertown he was a member of the Baptist Church. Some of his hobbies included fishing, hunting and working with his hands. He was a noted leather worker, tooling many fine pieces of leather into wallets and checkbook covers and other accessories. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and pets and will long be remembered for being a devout Christian. Grateful for having shared his life is his wife Mae of Omaha, sons, Larry Jones and Mark Jones and wife Susan all of Clark, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. He also leaves a brother, Fred Jones and wife Faye and a sister, Virginia Jones all of LaGrange, GA.
