Herbert Kranz, age 96, of Canby, MN formerly of Clark, SD, passed away at the Sanford Canby Medical Center on Saturday, February 19, 2022.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, February 25, 2022 at 11 AM at the St. Michael's Catholic Church of Clark with The Reverend Daniel Smith celebrating the mass.  Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery of Clark.

Herbert G. Kranz was born November 1,  1925 to Carl and Rosalia(Sturm) Kranz at Elrod, SD. He graduated high school from Goodwin, SD in 1944.  He joined the Merchant Marines in 1945 until January of 1968.  He served in the American Merchant Marine in Oceangoing Service and received an Honorable Discharge.

On September 9, 1972 he was united in marriage to Freda Tuve at St Michaels Catholic Church in Clark.  They made their home in Clark for many years until moving to Canby in their retirement. Herbert will long be remembered for his many years as a custodian at the Clark High School where he worked from 1978 until 1990.

Herbert and Freda enjoyed traveling with their camper, visiting casinos, and playing cards.

Herbert is preceded in death by his parents, wife Freda, brothers Charles (Eileen) Kranz, Norbert (Wilma) Kranz and Lavern (Betty) Kranz, a niece Molly, a nephew David, and two sons, Dwight and Maynard Tuve.

Grateful for having shared in his life are children, Richard Tuve of Sioux Falls, Joyce (Kenneth) Klaassen of Clara City, MN, Paul (Brenda) Tuve of Raymond, MN, Janice (Terry) Sebring of Clarksville, TN , a daughter-in law Kendra Tuve of South St Paul, MN Sisters in-law Deloris DiSisto and Shirley Markegard and brother in law Ralph Hasner, 17 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and some great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
