Helene Reil

Helene Reil, age 67, Garden City, wife of Ron Reil, died on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 in the Jenkins Living Center in Watertown after a lingering illness.

Per Helene's request, cremation will take place.  A public graveside committal service of her ashes will be held at 4PM on Sunday, May 23, 2021 in the Garden City Cemetery at Garden City. Pastor Scott Dempster will officiate.   There will be fellowship following at the Tin Hall in Garden City.

Helene Paula Reil was born December 22, 1953, in Rock Rapids, IA, to Karl and Sofie (Neumiiller) Mueller.  She attended school in Rock Rapids and Sioux Falls attending Washington Senior High School obtaining her GED.  She then went on to school and received an Associate of Applied Science Degree.

On February 27, 1981, Helene married Ronald Lyn Reil in Pierre. They made their home in Philip, Edgemont, Selby and Watertown before Garden City where they currently resided.  She worked as a waitress, a cook, worked for the Watertown Public Opinion and as a dispatcher for Clark County Law Enforcement.

Helene enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, sightseeing, reading, spending time with her family, gardening, and watching butterflies.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald of Garden City; her children Cindy Olson of Cambridge, MN, Russell (Heather) Reil of Anchorage, AK, Raymond (Jessica Benthin) Reil of Watertown, Jason Tellinghuisen of  Boca Raton, FL, Aimee (Steve) Hanson of Sioux City, IA, Corey (Michelle Wiley) Reil of Watertown, and Anthony (Danielle) Reil of Garden City; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Also surviving are siblings Anna (Gernot) Heidinger, Sig (Charlotte) Miller, Peter Mueller and Maria (Fred) Haberer.

Preceding Helene in death are her parents and a sister-in-law, Karin Mueller.
