Harris Kasin, age 71, Sioux Falls, formerly of the Wallace area, died peacefully in the Bethany Lutheran Home at Brandon on Saturday evening, June 10, 2017 with his family at his side.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 5-8PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and will continue at the Church on Friday morning after 9:30.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 10:30 AM in the Telemarken Lutheran Church west of Wallace with burial in the Telemarken Cemetery.  Minister Marion Grimes will officiate with special music provided by Jennifer and Jason Barkmeier.  The honorary casketbearers will be Leif Anenson- posthumous, and the Staff of the Bethany Lutheran Home.  The active casketbearers will be Ryan Caufield, Tyler Tarbox, John Sonstebo, Jr, Malik Dunn, and Jeremy Flatten.

He was born Harris Anthony Kasin on May 21, 1946 at the Peabody Hospital in Webster, the son of Horace and Helen Geraldine "Gerry" (Bottum) Kasin.  Harris attended country school at Blaine #32, then Wallace until it closed and finished high school at Bradley in 1964.  He then attended a trade school in Omaha for communications.  Harris enlisted into the National Guard and took his basic training in 1967, serving his country for 6 years.

On August 24, 1968 he was united in marriage to Nancy Tarbox at the Baptist Church in Bradley.  The couple first lived on the "old Bruflat" place near Wallace, then on his parent's farm as they had moved into Wallace and then in 1979, he and Nancy built a new home which they have lived in and farmed the land since.  While on the farm they raised hogs, sheep- actually getting sheep for a wedding present, stock cattle, dairy cows and also small grains.  About two years ago they moved to Sioux Falls to be closer to their children and with Harris's declining health issues, closer to his Doctors.

He was a member of the Calvary Church at Wallace.  Some of his moments of free time were spent playing whist, watching television – especially boxing.  In earlier days he enjoyed hunting and sporty cars – often a night at the Merkels and train tracks- there's more to the story!  Besides his love of the land was second to none to watching Malik grow up over the years and playing basketball, Harris loved every minute of it.  He also was known to have a great time at high school wrestling matches and basketball games.  Harris also enjoyed a great meal of seafood.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and a nephew, Leif Anenson.

Grateful for having shared in his life is his wife Nancy, children, Carmen Kasin, and Corey (Nicole) Kasin, grandsons, Malik Anthony Dunn and Milo Edward Kasin all of Sioux Falls, sisters, Judith (David) Anenson of North Richland Hills, TX, and Patsy (Rick) Flatten of Wallace, exchange son, Magne (Anne) Grodem of Oslo, Norway, an exchange daughter, Jeanina Miranda of Costa Rica, a brother-in-law Harry (Darlene) Tarbox of Bradley and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are with the Furness Funeral Home at Clark where there is an on-line registry at www.furnessfuneralhome.com
