Harriet (Mrs. Arnold) Larson, age 93 of Watertown, formerly of Garden City. She died early Saturday morning in a Watertown care center where she had resided since last December. Services will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at 11AM in the Garden City United Methodist Church with the Reverend Warren Rhodes officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden City Cemetery. Music will be presented by Marvine Obermeier and Wendy Christman. Casketbearers will be Wayne Fletcher, Norman Alexander, Delmer Stern, Craig Rasmusson, Bill French and Bob Gergen. Visition will be held on Monday from 4-6PM at the Furness Funeral Home in Clark and 1 hour prior to services on Tuesday at the Church. She was born on November 3, 1910 at Garden City, the daughter of William and Pearl (Gregory) Young. She grew to adulthood in the Garden City community attending school there and graduating from Garden City High School in 1928. She was united in marriage to Todd Rost and to this union a son, Dale was born. Mr. Rost died at an early age and then she married Arnold Larson on August 30, 1942 and to this union a daughter, Vicky was born. The couple would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary this August. In 1940 she became the postmaster at the Garden City post office, a position she held until retiring in 1980. The couple has lived in Garden City until moving to Watertown 8 years ago. She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Garden City where she was Sunday School teacher for many years, something she totally enjoyed and loved. Harriet was also active in other Church activities including the United Methodist Women, various church boards and circle groups. She was also a longtime member of the Chat-A-Wee Club where she enjoyed countless hours of playing cards. For those who ever received a letter or greeting card from her, she will long be remembered for her beautiful penmanship. Grateful for having shared her life is her husband Arnold, son Dale Rost and wife Marcella all of Watertown, 3 grandchildren, Julie Mandery and husband Ted, Greg Rost and Patty Engels and husband David, 5 great grandchildren, Chad Mandery and wife Tricia and Brad Mandery, Aaron Rost and wife Stacey & Justin Rost and Jacklyn Engels and 2 great-great grandchildren, Zoey Mandery and Brandon Rost. Preceding her in death were her parents, a daughter, Vicky Larson in 1998 and a sister in childhood, LaVerne Young.
