Grace Tellinghuisen

Grace (Meyer) Tellinghuisen, age 92, Willow Lake, the widow of George Tellinghuisen, died early Monday morning, November 15, 2010 in the Parkview Care Center at Bryant. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at 10AM in the United Presbyterian Church at Willow Lake with The Reverend Dr. Lois A. Aroian officiating. Burial will follow in the Collins Cemetery at Willow Lake. Music will be presented by Jody Symens as the organist with Corey Tellinghuisen and Tia Felberg singing. Rhonda Michalski will be accompanist. Casketbearers will be Corey and Zane Tellinghuisen, Michael Meester, David Framstad and Scott Mucha. The honorary casketbearers will be Graces granddaughters and her great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7PM at the Church in Willow Lake and after 9AM at the Church on Saturday morning. She was born on July 8, 1918 to Mary (Lutterman) and George Jelle Meyer. She shared her joys of childhood with 3 brothers and 4 sisters on a farm near Lucan, MN. On December 3, 1939 she was united marriage to George Tellinghuisen at Lamberton, MN. Following their marriage, the couple lived in the Hazel, SD area. In 1941, they owned and operated the Midway General Store between Clark and Willow Lake. They were separated by working on the Alaskan highway, moving to and working in California and building a home in Willow Lake, farming in the Willow Lake area. Their final home was located 2 miles west of Willow Lake. While raising a family, Grace subsidized the family income by clerking in the Bert McVenes Grocery Store, Abe and Hassen Dyer Store, the Willow Lake Locker and assisting in the farming duties. She had a creative mind that led her to an interest in sewing, designing craft items, decorating her home and an endless array of fixing items. She was interested in gardening and had a love for flowers and therefore became one of the founders of the Willow Lake Park Ladies. The town now enjoys many activities due to the ladies efforts. She was a member of the Lioness Club and the United Presbyterian Church at Willow Lake and its womens organization. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George in 2000, a son, Harlan, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Grateful for having shared in her life are her children, JaNean (Don) Framstad of Springdale, Ark, Lynda (Mike) Mucha of Racine, WI, Marleen (Ron) Meester of Webster and Wayne (Sherrie) Tellinghuisen of Willow Lake, 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
