Following their marriage, the couple lived in the Hazel, SD area. In 1941, they owned and operated the Midway General Store between Clark and Willow Lake. They were separated by working on the Alaskan highway, moving to and working in California and building a home in Willow Lake, farming in the Willow Lake area. Their final home was located 2 miles west of Willow Lake. While raising a family, Grace subsidized the family income by clerking in the Bert McVenes Grocery Store, Abe and Hassen Dyer Store, the Willow Lake Locker and assisting in the farming duties. She had a creative mind that led her to an interest in sewing, designing craft items, decorating her home and an endless array of fixing items. She was interested in gardening and had a love for flowers and therefore became one of the founders of the Willow Lake Park Ladies. The town now enjoys many activities due to the ladies efforts. She was a member of the Lioness Club and the United Presbyterian Church at Willow Lake and its womens organization. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George in 2000, a son, Harlan, 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
