Gordon Larson, son of Edwin G. and Ruth (Fjelland) Larson, was born September 25, 1925 at Clark, South Dakota. He grew up and received his education in Garfield Township and at a young age started farming with his father. He was united in marriage to LaVonne Killmer at Clark Center Lutheran Church in 1948. In 1959 they purchased a farm in Woodland Township where he farmed and was a Pioneer seed corn dealer. Gordon also drove a farm truck where he hauled livestock for area farmers and also worked as a ringman for sale barns in Clark, Willow Lake and Watertown. They moved into Clark in 1969 and LaVonne died on April 30, 1997. Gordon retired in 1998. He died on Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Clark at the age of 88 years. He was baptized, confirmed and married at Clark Center Lutheran Church. He also served on several church committees and was a Charter Member of the Lions Club. Gordon enjoyed auction sales, fishing and also ran Silver Bullet Catering for several years. Gordon is survived by his special friend, Vivian Bruns of Clark; one son Dennis (Theresa) Larson of Clark; two daughters, Janene Gehrke of Clark and Renae (Terry) Mudgett of Clark; nine grandchildren, Keith Larson, Scott (Heather) Larson, Tyler Larson, Nikki (Brent) Stratmeyer, Dan (Janet) Gehrke, Tina Gehrke, Troy (Melissa) Mudgett, Trevor Mudgett and Lisa (Chris) Lee; 14 great grandchildren; and one sister-in-law Neva (Don) Larson of Sioux Falls. He was preceded in death by his wife LaVonne, his parents, two infant grandsons, two infant sisters and a sister-in-law Lorene (Helmer) Steen. His funeral service will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 3, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clark with Rev. Gary Anderson and Rev. Roger Shepherd officiating. Music will be provided by Dorothy Fuller as organist and Wendy Christman as vocalist. Pallbearers will Gordon's grandsons. Burial will be at Clark Center Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4PM to 6PM Thursday at Furness Funeral Home in Clark and after 9:30 AM at the church on Friday.
