He was born in Clark County on August 23, 1947, the son of William and Esther (Rankin) Holida. Gordon lived with his parents on a farm north of Vienna attending school in Vienna through the 8th grade. He moved into Vienna with his mother in the late 1960s.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, driving around the countryside in his car and taking care of his cats. He was a social person who enjoyed meeting people and visiting with friends, neighbors and family. Some of his fondest moments were spent going to tractor and equipment shows and parades, especially the Clark Potato Day and the Madison steam threshing festival. They were both big highlights of his summertime outings.
Gordon was a proud member of the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department and also took great pride in the work he did mowing for the Town of Vienna for several years.
Survivors include cousins in South Dakota, Minnesota and California.
Preceding him in death were his parents, and an older brother, Robert.
