Gloria M. Miller, age 91, Willow Lake, the widow of Clarence "Chub" Miller, died in the Parkview Care Center at Bryant on Sunday afternoon, June 5, 2016.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 5-7 PM at the Furness Funeral Home Chapel at Clark. Mennonite friends of Gloria's will be singing at 6:30 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 10:30 AM in the Evangelical Lutheran Church (WELS) at Willow Lake with The Reverend Randy Bader officiating. Casketbearers will be her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Burial will follow in the Collins Cemetery at Willow Lake.
She was born Gloria Maxine Seefeldt on May 17, 1925 north of Willow Lake, the daughter of William and Mable (Torper) Seefeldt. At a very young age, her mother Mable died and Gloria was raised by the Michalski family. She attended country school at the NE Hague School through the 8th grade.
On December 18, 1941 she was united in marriage to Clarence "Chub" Miller at the Methodist Church in Huron. The couple lived and farmed 12 miles north of Iroquois. On the farm she worked hard raising chickens, gardening, canning, baking bread, and other farm chores. She enjoyed sewing clothes as well. Gloria also was employed at the Midwest Foods in Clark for a time. After her husband's death in 1965, she helped dress pheasants in Iroquois during hunting season. Gloria also assisted her son, Gene, raise stock cows. In 2007 she moved into Willow Lake. She has been living at Parkview for about the past year.
She was a member of the Foster Extension Club, helped on election boards, the Iroquois and Willow Lake Senior Citizens Clubs, and thoroughly enjoyed time spent helping the Mennonites tie quilts.
Preceding her in death were siblings, Lorraine Thoreson, Lyle, Wallace, and Vernon Seefeldt, Joyce Peterson, Grace Busse, Sylvester "Sally" and Orville Michalski, and Sophie (Michalski) Kannegieter.
Survivors include her daughter, Jacqueline (Edward) Brennan of Watertown and Gene (Marcia) Miller of Huron., 6 grandchildren, Michael (Tanya DeJong) Brennan, Kimberly Spartz, Joseph (Brett) Brennan, John (Brittany) Brennan, Matthew (Laura) Miller, and Miranda (Casey) TerWee and 6 great-grandchildren, Riley & Chase Spartz, Kaden German, Carter, Olivia, and Caleb Brennan. She also leaves sisters-in-law, Rose Lamb and Dorothy Miller.
