Thanks for understanding. Greg Glenn Hawkyard, age 82, Minneapolis, MN, died in a Minneapolis care center on Sunday, February 12, 2012. Mr. Hawkyard is married to the former Mavis Smith of Clark, who survives him. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 11AM in the Furness Funeral Home Chapel at Clark with The Reverend Dayne Zachrison officiating. Music will be provided by Wendy Christman. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. Following the committal service, all are invited to return to the funeral home fellowship area for a dinner and a time of fellowship with the family. Memorial services were held on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 10AM in the Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 3801 Wooddale Avenue South, St. Louis Park (Minneapolis), MN. He was born Glenn Wallace Hawkyard on November 27, 1929 at his family's home in Hallock, MN, the youngest of three children born to Frank and Alma (Locken)Hawkyard. He graduated from Hallock High School in 1947. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1952 to 1954. Glenn then attended the University of Minnesota graduating in 1958 with a degree in forestry. On December 19 of 1970 he was united in marriage to Mavis Smith at Clark, SD. Glenn worked as an assessor for many years with the State of Minnesota for several cities in the western suburbs of Minneapolis and for Hennepin County. He was also an avid woodcarver. He and Mavis loved to travel and to spend time at the Minnesota Arboretum. Glenn will long be remembered for being fun, funny and sometimes totally irreverent. Surviving him is his wife Mavis, and several nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents, Frank and Alma (Locken) Hawkyard, a brother Bill Hawkyard and a sister, Joyce (William) Johnson.
