Gladys June Kann

Gladys Kann, age 86 of Crocker, SD, formerly of Britton, SD, died peacefully on Saturday evening, October 27, 2018 at the home of her daughter in Crocker.

Her memorial service will be 11:30 AM Saturday, November 3, 2018 in the First Lutheran Church of Britton.  Reverend Terrill  Sorensen will officiate.  Burial will be at a later date in the Britton Cemetery.

She was born Gladys June Baker on September 14, 1932 in Britton, the daughter of Richard and Nellie (Severson) Baker.  Gladys attended country school through the 8 ^th grade.

Gladys was married to Stanley Schnider in 1953, and they were blessed with four children: Vicky, Sandy, Jacqueline and Steve.  They lived on the farm southwest of Newark until 1961 when they moved to Vancouver, WA.  Eventually Gladys returned to the Britton area with her family.

On March 24, 1973 she was united in marriage to Larry Kann, and they became parents of a daughter, Teresa.  They made their home in Britton all of their married life.  Larry died in 2016 and Gladys continued to live in Britton. A few months ago, due to declining health, Gladys made the move to her daughter's home in Crocker, SD.  There she was lovingly cared for by Sandy.

Gladys enjoyed keeping up her house, decorating, and gardening.  She will long be remembered for her independent streak, determination and spunk.

Preceding her in death were both husbands, her parents, her siblings, Frank Baker, Joe Baker, Wilda (Tom) Benda, Betty Behnke; and a son-in-law, Leon Eckmann.

Survivors include her children, Vicky (Jack) Kreil of Jamestown, ND; Sandy (Monte) Loterbauer of Crocker; Jackie Skare of Vancouver, WA; Steve (Carrie) Schnider of Portland, OR; and Teresa (Brian) Maxwell of Britton.  She also leaves 18 grandchildren: Heidi (Mike) Purintun, Abby (Matt) Collins, Holly Maxwell, Kenzie (Brad) Kadoun, Shanon (Dave) Gregor, Shad Kreil, Heather Kreil, Travis (Junella) Kreil, Clay (Kayla) Skare, Zac Skare, Caitlyn Schnider, Jared Schnider; and 12 great grandchildren: Delilah, Adelia, Cashus, Lennix, Madeleine, Noah, Savannah, Traven, Seth, Chance, Chassie and Harli; and a brother, John (Norma) Baker of Britton.
