George Gordon Calvert M.Sgt. Ret.

George Gordon Calvert, US Air Force, Master Sergeant (retired), 79, died February 3, 2008, at Phitsanulok, Thailand, where he has resided for the last 3 1/2 years. Services will be held at Furness Funeral Home, Clark, May 10th, 2008, at 2:00 pm. Interment with Military honors by the Smith-Cagley American Legion Post #60 of Clark will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. There will be no visitation. He was born August 9, 1928 at Ramsey Co., Minnesota the youngest child of Alta (Kent) and Warren D. Calvert. He attended school in Minnesota and South Dakota, graduating from Clark High School, class of 1946. Gordon was employed by Red Owl food stores at Clark until enlisting in the Air Force in 1950 during the Korean conflict. While with Red Owl he became a manager trainee. He was in the Air Force for over twenty three years. During that time he was with the training command for the first four years, Ground Observer Corp, Tactical Air Command (TAC), and Strategic Air Command (SAC). His duty time as a Master Sgt. Were spent in TAC and SAC. being stationed at various bases in the United States, also Guam and Thailand. After retiring, he was employed by American Motors Corp. in Thailand. He was united in marriage on January 22, 1951 to Diane Carole Seefeldt, at Montevideo, MN. He is survived by his son, C. Michael Calvert (Barbara), Lincoln, NE; wife, Malee, Thailand; adopted children, (Tooey) Supote Calvert (Apinya), Columbus, Ga; (Toy) Jomsri Schaefers, (Greg), Orient, SD; Paula Calvert, Portland, Ore.; one grandson, three step grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Warren Kent Calvert, sister-in-law Marion, sister Denise Deslauriers, brother-in-law Robert; sister Maxine Tweney.
