Geneve (Nelson) Seefeldt, age 88, Sisseton, formerly of Clark died Sunday, April 23, 2006 in the Coteau des Prairies Hospital in Sisseton after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at 10:30 AM in the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark with Dr. Paul Larson officiating. Music will be presented by Dorothy Fuller as organist with Duane & Char Peterson singing "The Lord's Prayer". The congregation will sing "Amazing Grace", "Borning Cry" and "Precious Lord Take My Hand". The casketbearers will be her grandchildren, Kenneth, Ross, Sonja and Lana Nelson and Maurae Gab. Burial will be at 3:30 PM in the Romsdal Lutheran Cemetery near Beresford, SD. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5-7PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and 1 hour preceding services at the Church on Wednesday morning. She was born at Burbank, SD, near Vermillion, on April 16, 1918, the daughter of Erick Resel and Emma Randgaard. She attended country school in the Burbank/Greenfield and Volin area, speaking only Norwegian until the 3rd grade. After completing her country school education through the eighth grade, she attended and graduated from the Augustana Academy at Canton. She then moved to Chicago and worked as an aide in a hospital returning to Canton a short time later and worked as a housekeeper for the Nelson family meeting her future husband Carter Nelson. She was united in marriage to him in 1944. The couple lived and farmed in the Canton area. While living and farming near Canton, she began a career in teaching, an employment lasted over 20 years as she taught in country schools in Lincoln County. While teaching she also attended night classes at Augustana College working on a degree. Mr. Nelson died in May of 1977. On November 24 of 1982 she was united in marriage to Merritt A. 'Babe' Seefeldt at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clark. They lived and farmed south of Clark until his death on December 25, 2003. She had become a resident of the Fay Wookey Memorial Assisted Living Center prior to his death and lived there until moving to Greenleaf Assisted Living Center in Sisseton to be near her son, Neal, in August of 2004. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark, the WELCA, an honorary circle member, a former member of the St. Paul Choir, a member of the Cow Belle's and Son's of Norway. Some of her hobbies included playing piano, sewing, cooking, collecting cookbooks (amongst many other things!) and will long be remembered for her love of socializing. Grateful for having shared in her life are her sons, The Reverend Morris Nelson and wife Cathy of Hot Springs and Neal Nelson and wife Jenny of Sisseton, 5 grandchildren Kenneth, Ross, Sonja & Lana Nelson and Maurae Gab; a brother, Edgar Resel and wife Helen of Sioux Falls and a sister, Elaine Tellifero and husband George of Pineville, LA; step-children, Merritt Seefeldt, Jr. and wife Linda, Mike Seefeldt, Marshall Seefeldt and wife Pam all of Clark and Melanie Smith and husband Gail of Vienna; 7 step-grandchildren, Nathan and Kirk Smith, Nicole, Jeremy, Andrea, Cedric and Zachary Seefeldt and a step-great-granddaughter, Payton Seefeldt.
