Gary Blashill, age 52, Arlington, TX, formerly of the Bradley community, died on Saturday, September 10 of injuries received in an automobile accident. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 23, 2005 at 11AM in the Garden City United Methodist Church at Garden City. Burial will follow in the Garden City Cemetery. The Reverend Warren Rhodes will officiate. Marvine Obermeier & Wendy Christman will provide the music. The song selections will be "The Old Rugged Cross", "Three Rusty Nails" and "How Great Thou Art". Casketbearers are Gregg Ohman, Dennis Reoh, Rick Obermire, Ron Paulson, Charlie Zeck & Jim Guest. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to services at the Church in Garden City on Friday morning. He was born on January 5, 1953, at Watertown, the son of Walter and Cecil (Neal) Blashill. He grew to adulthood in the Clark and Bradley communities and lived in Wyoming for a number of years before moving to Texas in 1984. Since moving to Texas he was a painter for various contractors throughout the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and took great pride in his work. He loved music, bull riding, bowling and many others sports, but would challenge anyone in a game of pool or horseshoes. He had a great fondness for Mother Nature and always dreamed of going to Alaska. Although Gary's demeanor was quiet and unspoken - those who he loved and who love him knew of his generosity and thoughtfulness. Survivors include his children, Eric Blashill and Toni Oleson; grandchildren, Carly Smith, Jamie and Andrea Franklin and Kalista Wright, a sister, Diann Wakefield, nieces and nephews, Angel Mock, Robin Strand, Lisa O'Neil, Troy Wakefield and Mike, Tim and Mitchell O'Neil and a host of friends. Preceding him in death was his daughter, LaShea Marie, parents, Walter and Cecil (Neal) Blashill, 2 sisters, Janice O'Neil and Janet Blashill and a brother Arlo Blashill. He will be greatly missed.
