Gardena C. (Mrs. Walter) Anderson, age 85, Clark, died in the Golden Living Center at Clark early Thursday morning, March 11, 2010 after a brief illness.
Memorial services will be held on Monday at 11AM in the Furness Funeral Home Chapel at Clark with spring burial in Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. Pastor Donna Nickels will officiate.
There will be no visitation. The family will gather at the funeral home 1 hour prior to the memorial services in the chapel.
Gardena Catherine Deuter was born on December 21, 1924 at Ree Heights, SD, the daughter of Howard and Anna ( Eilts) Deuter. In 1933 the family moved to a farm near Faulkton. She attended the LaFoon country school near Faulkton and then graduated from Faulkton High School in 1942.
On January 1, 1948 she married Walter Anderson at Clark, SD. The couple lived and farmed 4 miles west and 1/2 miles south of Clark. In 1976 they moved into Clark.
Gardena had worked for the FSA , the FHA and the ASCS offices for many years retiring in 1985.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, a 21 year member of the Clark American Legion Auxiliary and was a member of the Retired ASCS Employees.
Grateful for having shared in her life is her husband of over 62 years, Walter of Clark, 4 daughters, Laura (Tom) Conzet of Rockford, MN, Cynthia Anderson and Judy Rider both of Minneapolis, MN and Mary Jo (Gary) Pullman of Wrangell, Alaska, 5 grandchildren, Andy, Jennifer, Angela, Randi and John. She also leaves a sister, Catherine (Carl) Bottelman of Orlando, FL.
Preceding her in death were her parents and siblings, Bill Deuter, Madeline (Francis) Brewer and Marion (Adrian) Dollinger.
