Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am, Monday, July 23, 2012 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Clark, SD, with Fr. John Short officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 22, 2012 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, with a Liturgical Wake Service beginning at 7:00pm at Furness Funeral Home in Clark, SD. Frank Smith aka "Spanky" was born on July 19, 1957 in Huron, South Dakota, the son of Frank and Cleo (Gill) Smith. Frank grew up and attended school in Clark and graduated from Clark High School in 1976. After graduation, Frank resided in the Twin Cities in Minnesota and returned back to Doland, SD where he was employed with Melvin Williamson Trucking, Dan Meyer's Trucking, Hofer Haying and was currently employed with Stan's Incorporated for the past 10 years. While working, Frank received numerous safety/efficiency awards, driver of the year awards and a new truck for his tenure. In Frank's spare time, you could find him riding his motorcycle, assisting with charitable bike rallies, spending time with friends and family and spoiling his nieces and nephews. He was notorious for his quick humor, demeanor and the ability to get one up on someone. Frank was always charitable and willing to be of assistance to anyone in need. Frank was also a member of the Harley-Davidson Association. Frank is survived by 3 siblings, Jim (Laura) Smith and family of Minnesota, Beth Freeburg and family of South Dakota, Dan Smith and family of North Dakota and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Cleo Smith.
