Francis "Beaver" Bobzien, age 71, of rural Raymond, died late Sunday, January 5, 2020, in a Watertown hospital.
There will be a memorial visitation on Saturday, January 11 from 4-6 PM at the Furness Funeral Home in Clark, SD.
Francis Wayne Bobzien was born on February 23, 1948 in Clark, during a time with lots of snow, at the Mable Stacey mid-wife home. His parents were Elmer and Jeanette (Mead) Bobzien.
Beaver as he became known attended school at the Garfield County School and then to the Hanson School also in Garfield Township. In the 7 th grade he became a student of the Clark School and then graduated from Clark High School in 1966. Following high school he attended the first class at the Vo-Tech in Watertown for auto mechanics.
He worked in Clark for Brekke Chevrolet, a short time at Larkin Potato, then for over 20 years at Olverson Transmission near Raymond. In the last years, Beaver helped at JB's Repair and did haying for Gene Weinreiss. He also enjoyed countless hours in Raymond, playing cribbage and visiting.
He married Carla Jenkins in 1979. They have lived on the Bobzien farm west and north of Clark since that time. The couple thoroughly enjoyed raising dogs, Beaver has had a dog since he was a small boy. Also as a young boy, like most other farm boys, loved to snare gophers, especially when they were 10 cents a tail!
Preceding him in death was his father, Elmer Bobzien.
Survivors include his wife, Carla, mother Jeanette Bobzien both of Clark, and aunts, Becky Harrington of Bradley and Judy Williams of Avoca, IA. Also surviving are his step sons, Cliff Boettcher of Clark and Marty (Kathy) Boettcher of Watertown. 3 step grandchildren, Danielle, Chris, Joseph, and 4 step-great grandchildren.
