Frances Lureen Claussen

Frances "Fran" (Mrs. Richard "Bud") Claussen age 64 of Clark died in a Sioux Falls hospital on Monday afternoon. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 29, 2005 at 11AM in the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Clark with the Reverend Roger Semmler officiating. Burial will follow in the Prairie Hill Cemetery at Bradley. Dorothy Fuller will be the organist and Roger Nordhus the soloist. He will sing "On Eagle's Wings" and "One Day At A Time". The congregation will sing "Amazing Grace". Casketbearers will be Clifford Hartman, David Clausen, Jerry "Sam" Hartley, Christopher Hartley, Ryan and Russell Claussen. The honorary casketbearers will be her grandchildren, Adrianna and Cameron Claussen and Joshua and Kaitlyn O'Neill. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-7 PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and 2 hours preceding services Friday at the Church. She was born on December 5, 1940 at Bradley, South Dakota, the daughter of Robert Harry and Vera (Edwards) Fryett. She grew to adulthood in the Bradley community attending school there and graduating from Bradley High School in 1958. On May 11, 1963 she was united in marriage to Richard 'Bud' Claussen at Clark. The couple lived at Clark for a short time before moving to Lead, SD in the early 1960's. In 1966 they moved to Brookings and live there until the mid 1970's. After the US Government employed her husband, they lived in various places in the United States and Germany for many years. While she lived in these communities, she worked as a retail clerk at various business including JC Penney stores. In 1995 they moved to Clark. While living in Clark, Fran worked as a clerk at Ken's Fairway Foods. Some of her hobbies included crocheting and working crossword puzzles. She thoroughly enjoyed roses, but second to none was her love for her grandchildren. Grateful for having shared in her life is her husband Richard 'Bud' Claussen of Clark, a son Kelly Claussen and wife Diane of Alamogordo, NM and a daughter, Renee O'Neill and husband Mark of Henry, 4 grandchildren, Adrianna and Cameron Claussen and Joshua and Kaitlyn O'Neill. She also leaves sisters, Mavis Valberg and husband Hubert of Watertown, Lucille 'Joy' Mathison of Sioux Falls and Veneta Diede of Westport, SD and a brother Lester Fryett of Mitchell. Preceding her in death were her parents, Harry Fryett in 1995 and Vera (Edward) Fryett in 1983, a son Bobby in infancy, and a sister, Alta Rick in 2003.
