Everett Hanson, age 89, died Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Avantara Nursing Home of Clark, SD with family by his side.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Furness Funeral Home of Clark and one hour prior to the funeral. Funeral services will be held at the United Methodist Church of Clark on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 10:30 am with Pastor Rob Salmonson officiating. Following a lunch, burial will be held at Lorinda Cemetery of rural Henry.
Everett Dean Hanson was born October 16, 1934, to Lawrence and Martha (Anderson) Hanson. Everett attended elementary school in Elrod and graduated from Clark High School in 1952. While in high school, he was very active in FFA and received the American Farmer Degree. He started his farming career at age 16 when his father passed away.
Everett married Erlene Dekker (the neighbor girl) on August 12, 1956, at the Clark United Methodist Church. The couple welcomed two daughters to their farm, Barbara and Connie. Everett raised small grain, corn, potatoes and cattle. One of his favorites was spending time at their cabin on Lake Kampeska with friends and family. Erlene and Everett spent many winters in Mesa, Arizona making many friends. In 2017, Everett and Erlene moved to Stoney Brook Suites in Watertown. Everett started his long battle with Alzheimer's at 80 years old.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Clark and the Clark Lions Club.
Everett is survived by his wife, Erlene of Clark, daughters, Barbara (Lowell) Dalton of Clark and Connie (Steve) Lundholm of Watertown, along with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Joe and Tonia, Sam, Dan and Sophie Dalton of Watertown, Jon and TuongVy and Ashlyn Dalton of Clark, Nick and Ashley, Coop and Dane Dalton of Clark, Mike and Angie, Chris, Jenny and Ben Bevers of Watertown, Marie and Matt, Haley and Hogan Hlavacek of Watertown, and Tanner Lundholm of Watertown and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Martha Hanson, brother, Loren (Carleton) Hanson, son-in-law, Bill Bevers, and brother-in-law, Clifford (Boots) Dekker.
