Evelyn Heiden

Evelyn Heiden, age 84, Clark, the widow of Kendal Heiden, died peacefully early Wednesday morning, February 15, 2017 in the Prairie Lake Hospital at Watertown after a very brief illness.  Mrs. Heiden served as an RN at the Clark Care Center for nearly 30 years.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, FEBRUARY 26, 2017 from 4-6PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and will continue at the Church on Monday morning. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 10:30 AM in the United Methodist Church at Clark with the Reverend Mark Tracy officiating.  Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark.  Wanda Bethke will serve as organist with Pam Grensberg and Janet Hallberg singing.  The honorary casketbearers will be her grandchildren.

She was born Evelyn Ann Peterson on November 26, 1932 at White, SD, the daughter of Elmer and Katie (Kor) Peterson.  Evelyn attended country school near White and then high school at Brookings graduating in 1950.  Following high school she attended and graduated from the Bartron School of Nursing in Watertown and obtained her Registered Nurse license.  Evelyn worked as an RN at the Clark Care Center for over 27 years.

On June 6, 1954 in the Grace Lutheran Church at Watertown she was united in marriage to Kendal Heiden.  The couple lived and farmed in Thorp Township, north of Clark their entire married life.  Kendal died on February 27, 2010.

Evelyn's faith was important to her being a member of the United Methodist Church for many years, the United Methodist Women and the Circle groups at Church.  In the community she played an active part in the Clark County American Cancer Society Relay for Life.  In her free times she enjoyed embroidery work, being out in the lawn, crocheting, and putting together puzzles.  For the couple's 49th/50th wedding anniversary, the family enjoyed a trip to Hawaii in 2003, and in 2013 she enjoyed a Christmas trip to Hawaii with family and also to Denmark, something she spoke about often.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and a brother, Merlyn Peterson.

Grateful for having shared a part of her life are her sons, Allen (Roxanne) Heiden of Phoenix, Richard (Roberta) Heiden of Omaha, 2 granddaughters, Lisa and Laurie Heiden and a sister-in-law, Jean Goedde of Goldendale, WA. Memorials in lieu of flowers would be appreciated to United Methodist Church at Clark.

Funeral arrangements are with the Furness Funeral Home at Clark where there is an on-line registry at www.furnessfuneralhome.com
