Evelyn Viola Hald

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2003 at 11:00 AM in the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clark. The Reverend Roger Semmler will officiate. Music will be provided by Rosella Hanson and Roger Nordhus. Burial will be held in Cleveland, Ohio.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 6-8PM at the Furness Funeral Home in Clark and after 9:30 AM at the Church on Saturday.

Evelyn Viola Hald, age 87, Clark, the widow of Robert Hald, died in the Prairie Lakes Hospital at Watertown on Tuesday evening, November 18, 2003 after a brief illness. She was born at Claire City, SD, the daughter of Albert and Adella (Scobba) Ulstad. She attended school at Claire City and later at Sisseton, graduating from High School there. Following her high school education, she worked at the AAA office in Sisseton. On December 31, 1937 she was united in marriage to Alfred Wolter at Sisseton. To this union two sons were born. The couple moved to Cleveland, Ohio in 1943. While living in Cleveland she worked at Hillside Dairy in the office for 27 years. Mr. Wolter died in 1968. In 1969 she was united in marriage to Jacob P. Gallo. He died in 1989. In December of 1991, she was united in marriage to Robert E. Hald and then moved to Clark. Mr. Hald was a longtime educator in Clark and surrounding communities. He died in January of 2001. While living in Cleveland she was a Sunday School teacher and was also Superintendent of the Sunday School at St. James Lutheran Church in East Cleveland. While living in Clark, she was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church and also active in its womens groups. Some of her hobbies included playing bridge, pinochle, bowling, reading, working on the computer and handiwork. Survivors include her sons, John Wolter and wife Ruth of Cleveland, OH and Robert Wolter and wife Wendy of Champagne, IL; a sister, Delilah Karlson of Madison, WI; 6 grandchildren, Debra Wolter, Michael Wolter and wife Sue, Donna Harris and husband Ray, Charlene Harris and wife Kevin, Kevin Wolter and wife Christine and Megan Wolter and 3 great-grandchildren, Julia and Michael Wolter and Harris. Preceding her in death were her parents, husbands, Alfred Wolter in 1968, Jacob Gallo in 1989 and Robert Hald in 2001 and siblings, Milton and Ervin Ulstad, Judith Farrington and Amy Peterson.
