Esther Cook, age 95, Wahpeton, ND, formerly of Custer and Clark, died in the St. Catherine's Living Center at Wahpeton on Saturday morning, March 17, 2007. She was the widow of Frank Cook.

Memorial services are scheduled for Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 11AM in the Furness Funeral Home Chapel at Clark with Pastor Donna Nickels officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. The family will meet at the funeral home at 10:00 AM on Saturday to greet friends prior to the services.

Memorial services were also held on Saturday, March 24th at 10AM at the St. Catherine's Living Center at Wahpeton, ND. Sr. Marie Hunkler, Chaplain presided. Music was provided by Mary Jane Pauly as pianist with the soloist Jackie Mendenwald singing "Just a Closer Walk With Thee" and "Amazing Grace". The readings were from Jeremiah 29: 11-15 and Psalm 23.

She was born in rural Abercrombie Township, North Dakota, on November 5, 1911, the daughter of Syver and Mathilda (Johnson) Johnson. Following her education in Abercrombie, she attended and graduated from the Valley City Teachers College. She then held teaching positions in western North Dakota.

She was united in marriage to Frank Cook. The couple lived at Clark where they were in the bee business for several years.

Some of her hobbies included cooking, baking and sewing. She was known for being a beautiful seamstress. She was also an active member of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include a sister, Vernice "Verny" Youngquist of Wahpeton, ND and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving her are two grandchildren, Leslie and Jeff Cook.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Frank, sons, Dale and Ronald Cook and siblings, Irwin, Toby and Kermit Johnson and Alyce Maloney.

Memorials would be preferred to the American Diabetes Assn., local chapter, in her memory.
