Hintz on March 27, 1920 at Hannover, ND, the daughter of Albert and Meta (Bergmann) Hintz. She attended country schools and 2 years of high school. The family moved to Waubun, MN from 1924-1930, returned to North Dakota for a short time and then in 1939 moved to Clark County, Hague Township, where they lived and farmed. Erna farmed with her brothers Norbert and Elwin. After Norbert's death in 1997, she left the farm and moved into Clark. While on the farm she did everything from plowing the fields to combining and running a tractor. She and her brother Norbert would take trips to visit family or to the Black Hills, hardly ever though staying overnight because they needed to take care of the farm! She would say, just needed a short break from the farm. She was a member of the Hague Lutheran Church until she moved into Clark and became a member of Peace Lutheran Church. Survivors include a nephew and a niece through marriage, Marianne Geise and her family. Preceding her in death were her parents, brothers, Norbert, Elwin (Dora) Hintz, a sister, Elda Geise and a nephew, Daniel Geise. Furness Funeral Home of Clark is serving the family where there is an on-line registry at www.furnessfuneralhome.com
