Erlene Deslauriers

Erlene (Fox) DesLauriers, age 92, of Clark, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 23, 2023 at Avantara Care Center in Clark, SD.

A Rosary will be held at 9:30 AM on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at the St. Michael's Catholic Church in Clark, SD with a visitation following from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM at the St. Michael's Catholic Church at 11:00 AM.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be livestreamed on the Furness Funeral Home Facebook page at the time of service.

Erlene Fox was born in Clark, SD on July 6, 1930 to Robert Fox and Isabelle (Bertrand) Fox. She was the youngest of eight children and grew up in Clark County. She attended country schools and graduated from Clark High School in 1948.

She married Glen R. DesLauriers on April 12, 1950 in Clark, SD. They farmed for several years near Raymond and spent most of their married life in Huron, SD. To their union, six children were born; Tom, Sheila, Darwin, Sharlene, Jeff, and Don.

Glen was killed in June of 1971; Erlene decided to remain in Huron at that time where she worked for many years doing several jobs. She was involved in her community and loved to cook so she started the little league baseball concessions. She moved to Clark in 1998.

Erlene was an avid Twins fan. She enjoyed all athletics, especially those that her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren participated in. She never missed a game and if she did was very few. Erlene also enjoyed playing cards of all kinds.

Blessed to have shared in Erlene's life are her children; Tom DesLauriers, Sheila (Steve) Charron, Darwin (Janie) DesLauriers, Sharlene (Tim) Wolf, Jeff (Kathy) DesLauriers, and Don (Lonna) DesLauriers, her 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and many other loving family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Glen DesLauriers, her parents, four brothers; Martin, Walter, John, and Robert Jr., and sisters; Evonne, Annabelle Understock, and Mary Makens.

The family of Erlene would like to give a special thank you to the Wookey Assisted Living Center and Avantara Care Facility for the amazing care they provided.
