Emma Marie Dela

Emma Marie Dela, age 90, of Watertown, formerly of Bradley, died early Wednesday morning, July 25, 2007 at the Golden Living Center in Lake Norden where she had resided since March of 2006. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 27, 2007 at 1PM in the Grace Lutheran Church at Watertown. Music will be presented by Marvine Obermeier and Wendy Christman. Honorary casketbearers will be the Staffs of the Golden Living Center at Lake Norden and the Prairie Lakes Hospice of Watertown. Active casketbearers will be Vinh Tran, Kim & Chuck Ohman, Paul Dobbs, Bob Miller, Jerry Dudley and Maurice Rick. She was born on September 14, 1916 near Bradley, SD, the daughter of Harold & Alma (Skogen) Forbragd. She attended school in Bradley. On October 24, 1934 she was united in marriage to Vance Hasner. To this union two children were born, Vivian and Nancy. The couple later divorced. On August 22, 1948 she married Harvey Dela at Lily, SD and they had two daughters, Dixie and Holly. The couple owned and operated cafes at Bradley and Henry. In 1951 they moved to Santa Monica, CA where she worked at Paddys Slipper Factory. In 1960 they returned to Bradley where she worked for Harringtons Creamery and later opened a caf. While living in Bradley she was active in the Bradley Community Club, St. Johns Lutheran Church, the Legion Auxiliary and the Prairie Hill Cemetery Association. Emma will long be remembered for making for many people wedding, graduation and anniversary cakes and also for her wonderful donuts and lefse. She thoroughly enjoyed being in the kitchen baking and cooking. In 1975 the couple moved to Watertown where she worked at Midland National Life Insurance Company then later served as the kitchen manager at the Elks Lodge in Watertown until her retirement. Harvey Dela died on June 19 of 1984. While living in Watertown she was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the American Legion Auxiliary Post 108 and the Watertown Elks. Grateful for having shared in her life are her children Vivian Estelle Hasner Miller of Watertown, Nancy Colleen Hasner Parry of Pullman, WA, Dixie Lee Dela Tran and husband Vinh of Tea, SD and Holly Lynn Dela Ohman and husband Kim of Watertown, 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a sister, Helen Welch of Egan, SD and a brother-in-law Robert Dela and wife Pauline of Clear Lake. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and a brother Lawrence. Visitation will be held 2 hour preceding the services at the Church on Friday in Watertown.
