Ella Mae Davidson, age 93, of Bryant died in the Parkview Care Center at Bryant on Tuesday, August 30, 2016. Memorial services will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 10:30 AM in the our Redeemer Lutheran Church at Bryant with The Reverend Bryan Taffe officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Bryant. There will be no visitation. She was born Ella Mae Stankey on March 8, 1923 on a farm in Clark County, west of Bryant, SD, the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth (Albin) Stankey. Ella was schooled near Bryant. She married Edward Davidson in Bryant and the couple moved to Washington State for a year. They returned to the area and farmed south of Bryant and moved into town in 1970.
While living on the farm she raised ducks, chickens, and geese. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and raising flowers. In the free moments Ella played cards, put together puzzles, checkers, or you might find her at a local fishing spot. Ella will long be remembered for her famous apple pies, making jams and jellies, and going to Forestburg, SD to get watermelons, picking her own one would add! She cared for many cats over the years as well. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, a daughter, Gloria Davidson Sabin, a granddaughter, Sonya Rae, a great-great granddaughter, Gracie, son-in-law, Don Brown, and siblings, Carol, Mildred, Dorothy, Ellsworth, Lillian, Frieda, Marcella, Buddy, Delores, Helen, Henry Lee, Bobby Gene and 4 in infancy. Survivors include a daughter, Marsha Brown of DeSmet, 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.
