Eleanor Mehlberg

Eleanor Mehlberg, age 86, of Clark, formerly of Raymond, widow of Clarence Mehlberg, died Saturday, January 1, 2022, at Prairie Lakes Hospital of Watertown.

Visitation will be held Friday evening, January 7, 2022, from 5-6:30 PM with a prayer service led by CRE Michelle Mehlberg at 6:30 at the Furness Funeral Home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service. Funeral services will be Saturday morning, January 8, 2022, at 10:30 am at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Raymond with Reverend Randy Bader officiating.  Barb Wegman will be the organist.  Casket bearers will be the grandchildren and great grandchildren. Burial will follow at the Prairie Valley Cemetery near Raymond.  MASKS ARE REQUIRED.

Eleanor Mae was born January 27, 1935 near Willow Lake to parents Anna (Vick) and William Collins. She attended Hague country school and Clark High School graduating in 1954. The family moved to a farm near Clark in 1948.

On November 28, 1954 she was united in marriage to Clarence Mehlberg at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Raymond. The couple farmed in Ash Township near Raymond and retired from farming in the early 1990's. Clarence died in 1997.  Eleanor continued living on the farm until 2017 when she became a resident of Wookey's Assisted Living Center in Clark.

She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Raymond where she was a member of the Bethlehem Ladies Aid and taught Sunday School for many years. She was also a long-time member of the Helping Hands Club. Eleanor was a stay-at-home mom for many years raising her children and helping on the farm. She also raised chickens, was a potato grader, babysat the neighbor children, worked at Andy's and the Double R Bar and volunteered at the Clark nursing home for several years.  She enjoyed dancing, fishing, gardening, and baking, especially her caramel rolls.  Above all, Eleanor loved babysitting her grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Debra Mehlberg of Watertown, Tim (Michelle) Mehlberg of Raymond, Jane Coats (Kevin Hofer) of Doland, Peggy (Phil) Hill of Broken Bow, NE and Steve Mehlberg of Raymond; thirteen  grandchildren, Jessica (Geoff) Bohn, Heidi (Cody) Mehlberg, Carly (Garrett) Woodring, Jennifer Coats, Josh (Bailey) Coats, Kelcie (Eric) Westerhold, Rebeka (Bryce) Anderson, Amanda (Zack) Sanchez, Eric (Shelby) Mehlberg, Kasey (Kadie Boysen) Mehlberg, Zach Mehlberg, Paige Mehlberg, and Lindsey Mehlberg; six step-grandchildren, Jamey, Shelly, John, Erin, Dean, and Laura; nine great grandchildren, Mason, Emily, Brynn, Westyn, Hayden, Warren, Josephine, and Cassidy; brother Charles (Connie) Collins; sister-in-law, Trudy Collins; and several nieces and nephews.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clarence; mother and father-in-law, Irene and Charles Mehlberg; son-in-law, Jim Coats; great granddaughter Cora Irene Anderson, siblings Orval (Gwen), Oscar, Osmer (Doris), Dan (Pat), and Bill Collins and Violet (Clifford) Drexler and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Agnes and Kenny Board.
