Edith May Valentine Moe

Edith Moe, age 90 of Bradley died in a Watertown hospital following a brief illness on Tuesday morning, December 18, 2007. She was the widow of George Moe. Memorial services will be held on Friday, December 21, 2007 at 10:30 AM in the St. John's Lutheran Church at Bradley with Minister Marion Grimes officiating. Following the services a dinner will be served in the Bradley Community Center. Private family burial will follow the dinner. Marvine Obermeier will be the organist with she and Wendy Christman singing. They will sing "Precious Lord, Take My Hand" and "Peace in the Valley". The congregation will sing "Silent Night" and "Joy to the World". Honorary Casketbearers will be the great-grandchildren. There will be no visitation. She was born south of Bradley, Thorp Township, on February 14, 1917 with the given name, Edith May Valentine Tarbox, the daughter of Henry and Jessie (King) Tarbox. She attended the Thorp School where she participated on the girls' basketball team. On December 7, 1935 she was united in marriage to George Moe at Aberdeen. They lived for a short time in the Thorp School where she cooked until moving to Bradley in the 1940's where she went to work at the P & P (Peterson & Peterson) Shopping Center. She worked for the Peterson's until the store closed in the late 1960's and then she became employed as a cook in the Bradley school, something she thoroughly enjoyed doing until the school closed in 1977. Mr. Moe died on March 15 of 1985. She will long be remembered for her cooking, needlepoint work and love of visiting, but second to none was her joy of baking. 'Her apple pie was the best in the country' as her granddaughter Beckie fondly remembers. It was no secret in Bradley that everyone would rush to Edie's house to help with snow removal and other outside chores, because they all new she was the best baker (cook) in Bradley. Grateful for having shared in her life is a daughter-in-law, Gloria Moe of Bradley, granddaughters, Beckie Caulfield and husband Jim of Bradley and Cindy Routh and husband Vic of Watertown, 6 great-grandchildren, Jody Hagstrom and husband Donnie of Clark, James Caulfield and wife Ann of Bradley, Ryan Caulfield and wife Erica of Wallace, Eric Caulfield and wife Jessie of Bradley and Matt and Victor Routh, Jr. of Watertown and 4 great-great grandchildren, Gunnar Hagstrom, Cora, Louie and Madelyn Caulfield. She also leaves a brother, Arthur Tarbox and wife Lela of Bradley and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, Son, G. DeWayne Moe in 2006 and three brothers and their wives, William (Maxine), Leonard (Dena) and Horace (Hazel) Tarbox.
