Eddy Rieke

Eddy Rieke, of rural Vienna, SD, passed away on April 13, 2025, at his home. Furness Funeral Home has been entrusted with assisting the Rieke family with arrangements.

A celebration of life will be held at Furness Funeral Home in Clark on Sunday, May 11, 2025, from 4pm to 7pm, with a time of remembrance starting at 6:30.

Eddy was born on July 18,1959, to Robert and Rose (Kohl) Rieke in Huron, SD.  He was raised in rural Carpenter with his two sisters until the age of 10, when they moved to Clark.  He attended grade school at an array of country schools, then attended Clark High School.

At the young age of 15, Eddy left home and began his journey through life.  He met Kate and her three young daughters while working in Texas in 1984, and his life changed forever.  He had a family to take care of.   Eddy and Kate married and moved their family to Clark in 1992.  They made their home in rural Vienna soon after.    In the early 90's Eddy became an entrepreneur and started his business Tie Scaping Unlimited where he spent most of his time over the road tearing up abandoned railroad tracks in different states.  He endeavored in several other businesses throughout his lifetime with the last one being Rieke Excavating.

He loved hunting and fishing and was a classic car enthusiast.  He never shied away from a day's work but also knew how to enjoy life.  He traveled to New Zealand with friends for a hunting trip and brought home a prize red stag.  He loved going to concerts and 49'ers games with his family and friends and made new friends everywhere he went.  Most of all, he loved being Grandpa and being on his farm.

Grateful for sharing his life are his daughters, Ayrica (Chuck) DeBoer of Castlewood, Jaycee (Jeffrey) York of Henry, Amanda (Brandon) Zihlke of Aurora.   8 grandchildren, Wyatt (Lindsey) Holmstrom, Clarsie (Nathan) Steilman, Abigail, Elizabeth, Gavin, Danielle, Ryer and Colton, 6 great grandchildren, sisters Bobbie Palmer and Brenda Beynon, his nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents Rose and Robert and both maternal and paternal grandparents.
