Duane "Oscar"
Seefeldt
February 9, 1959 – March 9, 2026
Duane "Oscar" Seefeldt, 67, a life-long resident of Willow Lake, passed away on March 9, 2026. Following Oscar's wishes, there are currently no services planned. The Seefeldt family requests that in lieu of flowers or other memorial gifts, that donations be made to the Willow Lake Fire Department in Oscar's memory.
Duane Seefeldt was born in Watertown, SD to Richard and Ruth (Mundhenke) Seefeldt on February 9, 1959. Growing up in Willow Lake, Duane was affectionately given the name of “Oscar” by a young cousin at the age of 2, and the name followed him throughout his life. Oscar graduated from Willow Lake High School in 1977, and began working for Gene (and later Dwight) Warkenthien at the feed lot, a job that he held for over 30 years. Following his time with the Warkenthien family, Oscar went on to work at Agtegra, the cheese plant, and for the City of Willow Lake. Oscar enjoyed helping others and was a long-time member of the Willow Lake Fire Department where he devoted over 40 years of his life.
In his retired years, Oscar enjoyed mowing, deer hunting, and attending local sports games. Oscar cherished his time with others and was truly enjoyed by those he visited with. He could often be found entering a business where all inside would exclaim “Hi Oscar!” when he came in. Having a great sense of humor, Oscar loved to give others a hard time and make them laugh along with him.
Oscar especially loved his time spent with his family. In his later years he progressively moved closer and closer to his sister, visiting her each day to check in. He was a wonderful uncle and grandpa and truly enjoyed time that he was able to spend with the younger generations of the family. When the Seefeldt family got together, spirited games of bean-boozled, monopoly, and many other board games led to hours of memories and laughter. Oscar’s greatest accomplishment in life were his two sons, Heath and Garrett, whom credit him with being the greatest dad they could have asked for. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and very cherished friend to many.
Oscar is survived by his two sons Garrett (Shelby)and Heath and his daughter Melynda Anne. His grandchildren Owen, Brooke, Jett, Alahna, and Laila. His sister Marie (Stan). His nephew Rick (Sherri) and niece Ashley (Rich) and great nephew Ryker and great nieces Grace, Arya, and Bryleigh.
He is preceded in death by his parents and paternal and maternal grandparents along with numerous aunts and uncles.
