Doug Hansen

The family of Doug and Tina Hansen would like this thank-you to members of the community:

Never are we made more aware of how much our family and friends mean than after experiencing a loss.  We can't thank or community enough for the kindness, generosity, and support shown to our family during this difficult time.  We are beyond grateful for the people in our lives and the town we call home.  The memory of our parents, Doug and Tina Hansen, will fly on in our hearts forever.

Doug Hansen, age 64, of rural Garden City, died tragically on Sunday, September 13, 2020, along with his wife Tina (Karber) Hansen, in a plane accident in Brown County near Groton, SD.

Memorials in their memory will be appreciated in lieu of flowers.

Visitation Services will be held from 8:30-11:00AM on Saturday, September 26, 2020, at the Clark County Airport. Funeral Services will follow, beginning at 11:00AM with Reverend Mark Tracy officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.

Douglas Mark Hansen was born November 17, 1955.  He was the youngest of four children born to Jack E. Hansen and Betti Lou (Peterson) Hansen.

Doug was born for adventure and loved motorcycles, fast cars and at the age of 14 he began to develop his passion for planes. His knowledge and skill were honed by his mentors, Dick Hendry and Don Givens in the early 70's.

Doug became an ag pilot and founded Hilltop Aerial Inc. which served Clark and surrounding counties for many years.

Doug married the love of his life, Tina Karber, on Valentine's Day in 1991.  Their marriage blessed them with two sons, Jed in 1993 and Caleb in 1996.

Everything Doug did in his life he did with his whole heart.  He loved farming, nature, hunting, and traveling to new places.  He was born, raised and spent his entire life in South Dakota.

Doug was a loving husband, a wonderful father, a fun and caring brother and most of all, an amazing person. He will be missed by his many friends and family, but most of all by his two sons.

Preceding Doug in death were his grandparents and parents.

Doug is survived by his sons, Jed and Caleb Hansen; siblings, Wendy Crabtree of Bradley, Jack (Joyce) Hansen of Garden City, Holly Hansen of Campobello, SC; as well as countless other family and friends.

Fly High and Free Doug, and know how much you are loved.

Funeral arrangements are with the Furness Funeral Home at Clark where there is an online registry at www.furnessfuneralhome.com
