Douglas Earl "Doug" Bergan, age 56 of Clark, died peacefully at his home in Clark, early Sunday morning, November 19, 2017 with his family at his side.
A public Celebration of Doug's Life will be held on July 28, 2018 at 2PM at Camp Lakodia located on the south side of Lake Herman, Madison, SD. Come and share your stories, memories and laughter, as this is how Doug wanted to be remembered.
Doug was born on March 21, 1961 at Madison, SD, the son of Edwin Bertnine & Mary Ellen (Stacy) Bergan. He attended grade school and high school at Madison. Doug worked at T & R Electric in Colman and then at Gehl Manufacturing in Madison.
It was at Gehl Manufacturing he met Dawn Dorene Corbin of Howard. The couple married on the family farm of her parents on August 23, 1980. They lived and worked in the Madison/Howard communities. Doug and his father spent many hours together, from fishing and hunting, to learning to run the blade at the highway department where Edwin, his father, and Doug were employed. Doug thoroughly enjoyed running heavy equipment.
In 1990 the couple and their daughters, Brooke and Jamie, moved to Clark where he worked for the Department of Public Safety (DOT). In the mid 1990's he went to work for Campbell Farms, Inc, Dakota Style Chips where he drove truck for many years. He later worked for Frito Lay as a truck driver and then the past 10 years, worked for Clausen Construction as a heavy equipment operator, a dream job!
In his free times, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, going to the races, and second to none, spending time with his family. Doug will long be remembered for his generous spirit, always willing to help someone else out first, and his love for his family, especially cherishing time with his wife and daughters.
Survivors include his wife Dawn of Clark, daughters Brooke (Randy) Moschell and Jamie Bergan (Durrell Davidson) all of Piedmont, SD; and siblings, Wayne (Mary Ellen) Bergan of Milan, MN, Ron (LeAnn) Bergan of Brookings and Linda (Burnie) Hegdahl of Madison.
