Dorothy E. Vick, age 84, Doland, the widow of Ole Vick, died peacefully surrounded by her family late Tuesday, January 22, 2013 in the Community Memorial Hospital at Redfield. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 25, 2013 from 4-6PM at the Furness Funeral Home at Clark and will continue after 9:30AM at the Church in Doland on Saturday. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 26th at 10:30 AM in the Redeemer Lutheran Church at Doland with The Reverend Peter Utecht officiating. Casketbearers will be Jeff Albrecht, Gary Felderman, Justin Bucholz, Randy Mason, Craig Schroeder and Jim Wagner. The organist will be Betty Satter with Jackie Stacey as soloist. Following a lunch in Doland, burial will take place in the Telemarken Lutheran Cemetery near Wallace. She was born Dorothy Elaine Stacey on January 2. 1929 on a farm near Garden City, SD, the daughter of Thomas and Ellen Jane (Clyde) Stacey. Dorothy attended country school near Garden City in Maydell Township. After her schooling she worked in the Stevenson's Café at Bradley. On January 12, 1947 she was united in marriage to Ole John Vick, son of John and Lena (Thompson) Vick) at Bradley, SD. While living in Bradley Ole worked for the Brown Brothers Auto. In 1955, they moved to Doland and while Ole worked at Rasmussen Ford, Dorothy was busy working for Hilda Scott in the West Side Café. She was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church at Doland. Dorothy will long be remembered for her love of being in the kitchen, whether it was cooking or baking, especially her cinnamon rolls. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Ole in 1997, and siblings, Agnes Lyngbye, Margaret & Doris Peterson, Maxine Hughes, Betty, John and Ervin Stacey. Grateful for having shared in her life are her sons, Roger Vick of Doland and Larry (Cathy) Vick of Green Bay, WI, a granddaughter, Jessica Vick of Milwaukee, WI and her fiancé John Rentmeester and her siblings, Francis "Red" (Lois) Stacey of Bradley, Mary Bergen, Bud (Dorothy) Stacey, Ida (Charlie) Lundholm all of Madison.
