Dorothy A. LaMont, age 92, Madison, SD, formerly of Huron and Willow Lake, SD, the widow of Stanley LaMont, died early Friday morning, April 22, 2011 in the Bethel Lutheran Home at Madison, SD. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 25, 2011 at 2PM in the Grace Lutheran Church at Willow Lake with The Reverend Conrad Krahling, Chaplain of the Bethel Lutheran Home, officiating. He will be assisted by Vicar Jonathan Boynton. Burial will be in the Collins Cemetery at Willow Lake. Casketbearers will be her grandchildren. Music will be presented by JoAnn Eggleston as organist and Amy Brown as soloist. Visitation will be from noon until 2PM on Monday at Grace Lutheran Church at Willow Lake. Dorothy Ann Chamberlin was born on January 23, 1919 at Forsyth, Rosebud County, Montana, the daughter of George and Mary (Miller) Chamberlin. Her Mother died at her birth and Dorothy and her brother were raised by an aunt and uncle, John and Mattie (Miller) Peterson. Dorothy married Stanley LaMont on October 8, 1938 in the American Lutheran Church at Huron, SD. The couple lived and farmed in Rosedale township until 1982 when they moved to Huron, SD. They lived there for 13 years. Failing health caused them to move to Madison, SD to be near family. Stanley died in 2005. She was active in the Grace Lutheran Church at Willow Lake, teaching as well as superintendent of the Sunday School and serving in various council positions. After moving to Huron they transferred their membership to the American Lutheran Church and from there to Trinity Lutheran Church in Madison. Preceding her in death were her husband, Stanley LaMont on February 28, 2005, a daughter Carol at the age of 17, her parents and her only brother, James (Anna) Chamberlin. Grateful for having shared in her life are two daughters, Judith (James) Tarpley and Mary (James) Brown all of Madison, SD, three sons, Byron (Bonnie) LaMont of Fremont, NE, Ben (Debra) LaMont of Glenham, SD and Jim (Carolyn) LaMont of Willow Lake, 12 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
