Mrs. Dorothy E. Foster, age 88, of Clark died this morning, November 22, 2005 in the Roetell Senior Housing where she had been residing. She was the widow of Glenn Foster. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2005 at 11AM in the Furness Funeral Home Chapel at Clark. The Reverend Daryl Wileman will officiate. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Clark. Honorary casketbearers will be the Staff of Roetell Senior Housing and Dorothy's neighbors in Clark. Active casketbearers will be Dale Kludt, Lyndal Nelson, Morley and John Foster. Pianists will be Denise Page and Darla Kannas with Dave Page as the soloist. There will also be congregational singing. She was born on August 15, 1917 at Wilmot, SD the daughter of Ralph H. and Winifred (Howell) Eastman. She grew to adulthood in the Wilmot community graduating from Wilmot High School in 1935. Following her high school graduation, she attended Northern Normal College in Aberdeen obtaining her teaching certificate. Dorothy taught in the Whetstone Valley country school in Northeast South Dakota. She was united in marriage on March 30, 1940 to Glenn M. Foster. In 1963 she obtained her college diploma. She taught for some 19 years, music and later on math, in the Pierre Jr. High School at Pierre, SD. Her husband died on February 29, 1980. Dorothy moved to Clark in the early 1990s and has lived in the Roetell Senior Housing Center since August of 2004. Some of her hobbies included gardening & canning, woodworking, knitting & crocheting and making crafts. She will long be remembered for her many craft projects, some of which won ribbons at local fairs. Survivors include her children, Diane Kludt and husband Dale of Henry, Ralph Foster and wife Delores of Rapid City and Sally Nelson and husband Lyndal of Lino Lakes, MN; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, and brothers, Donald, Richard and Gordon Eastman. Visitation will be held 2 hours preceding services in the Furness Funeral Home on Saturday morning.
